Over 5,000 Fans in the House to See Lookouts Beat the Suns

After dropping game one of the series, the Chattanooga Lookouts (10-11) responded with a 7-3 win over the Jacksonville Suns (10-11) in front of a season-high crowd of 5,678.

Chattanooga’s bats got going early as Byron Buxton led off the game with a single. The next batter Jorge Polanco moved Buxton to third on a single of his own and DJ Hicks smacked a double to plate the team’s first run of the day.  With one out in the inning Travis Harrison hit another single to give the Lookouts the early 3-0 lead against Suns’ starter Jake Esch (L, 2-1).

The team’s offense was just getting started as they added a run in the third inning on a Adam Brett Walker II RBI single.  An inning later the team continued to stroke the bat.  Second baseman Levi Michael delivered his second triple of the season and was brought home on a sac fly by Buxton.

With a five-run lead starting pitcher Tyler Duffy (W, 1-2) was cruising along.  The former Southern League Pitcher of the Week (4/9-19) surrendered three runs in the fifth, but went seven innings to notch his first win of the year.  The righty now has four quality starts and has the second most strikeouts in the league (30).

Only up two runs the Lookouts bounced back with a run in bottom of the fifth inning and one more in the sixth inning.  New reliever Tim Shibuya made his Lookouts debut when he took over for Duffey in the seventh.  The right-hander only allowed one hit while striking out three.

Tomorrow the two teams will take the field on Harmon Killebrew Bobblehead Night presented by Great Clips.
