Paddlefest allows many to enjoy the Tennessee River and learn about its access

The director of Tennessee RiverLine says the city's development will only enhance the community's education about the River

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – A hot Saturday led some local residents, and some from out-of-town to descend on the Tennessee River here in Chattanooga for Paddlefest.

Several people brought their own canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards to have a little fun along the water.

The event was sponsored by Outdoor Chattanooga and the Tennessee RiverLine.

The director of the RiverLine, Brad Collett, says the city’s development along the river can help with this community’s education on how to better utilize this great regional trail system.

“Chattanooga has long been a leader in engaging the Tennessee River, and we’re helping communities like Chattanooga understand what their next steps may be in order to provide equitable access to this natural resource.”

The Tennessee River runs from Paducah, Kentucky to Knoxville.

Each of those cities also participated in today’s event with its own activities.
