Paraglider rescued 100 feet in air near Sequatchie County mountain

DUNLAP, Tenn. (WDEF) – A dramatic rescue took place in Sequatchie County on Friday.

The Dunlap Fire Department says that a paraglider crashed into some trees near the Lewis Chapel community around 1:30 p.m. central time.

The gilder was not injured but was unable to safely get to the ground, being suspended approximately 100 feet high in the air.

Firefighters had to hike nearly a half mile and descend about 500 feet to reach the gilder.

They were able to free that person after six hours.
