Parents angered over Chattanooga Valley Middle School gun incident

WALKER COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) – Some parents are upset that they weren’t properly notified that a child brought a gun to school to Chattanooga Valley Middle School.

They say only a few people were notified, not all parents.

Late this afternoon, Principal Wade Breeden released a statement that a student brought an unloaded pistol to school. Yet, parents are also upset that they were not notified until 3:32 pm when kids had all been dismissed.

Reports show that another student reported it.

Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson tells us the 14 year old boy had a juvenile complaint filed against him.

Wilson says the boy had a 22 caliber pistol. A Juvenile Court Judge released him to a parent.

The Principal asks parents to encourage all students to report any incident that could be a safety risk.

Here is the letter that was sent about the incident.
