Parkridge raises awareness about mental health on Mental Health Day
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF)- Parkridge Medical Center is raising awareness about Mental Health on World Mental health Day.
“It is basically to help individuals understand the breath of mental health to help people understand the numbers of people that are impacted by mental health, and then how mental health challenges impact our entire community,’ said Latricia Taylor with Parkridge,
World Mental Health Day is recognized every year.
Since 1992, mental health experts have taken time to advocate and fight against social stigma.
Taylor explains how Mental health can impact anyone.
“Every person has been touched by it, and especially now post covid, we are seeing increasing numbers of individuals who are reporting increased depression, increased anxiety. We are seeing youth who are being impacted.” said Taylor.
According to Parkridge, Isolation and social anxiety are ways that can “trigger” a person’s Mental Health.
But Taylor believes there are resources available to help treat mental health causes.
“Anything from something that’s a structured mental health program to a community program. There’s NAMI, which is the National Alliance for the Mentally ill,” Taylor said. “There are other types of groups that you can reach out to. There are all types of resources out there.”
And for those experiencing mental health, Taylor’s message for you is simple…
“You have help. There are some safe spaces. There are people who care. You are worthy of love. You are worthy to be here, please reach out. Do not go through this alone. We are here to help,’ Taylor concluded.
