Parts of Ocoee Whitewater Center reopening this weekend
POLK COUNTY, Tennessee (WDEF) – Parts of the Ocoee Whitewater Center are ready to reopen this weekend.
The recreation areas, trails and lower lot will be reopened on Friday after the fire last month.
But the fenced in area around the visitor center will remain closed and parking will be limited.
TVA’s river warning system still isn’t working because it was damaged by the fire.
It alerts people along the river of rapidly rising water when it is released from the dam above.
Officials say it could take several more weeks to repair.
