Pedestrian struck and killed after standing in road, police say
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A vehicle struck and killed a woman on Highway 27 early Sunday morning, police said.
The Chattanooga Police Department said a person was standing in the right, southbound travel lane. They received multiple calls about this pedestrian, who was standing in the rain.
Soon after, around 3 a.m., the pedestrian was struck.
Police said the pedestrian was a 29-year-old woman. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
The CPD said the driver of the vehicle remained on scene, but “was arrested for suspicions of DUI.”
Chattanooga Police say they are still investigating the incident.
