CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – People in our area were treated to a rare showing of the northern lights this weekend.

The lights were scene as far south as Alabama and the Atlanta area.

The rare sighting was caused by an unusually large solar storm arriving on earth Friday night.

It was the largest storm we’ve seen in 21 years.
