Plan Hamilton Sparks Growth Debate
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Community leaders gathered today at the Chattanooga Area Chamber to discuss the future of Hamilton County’s growth, and the challenges that come with it.
The growth strategy has sparked debate, especially in areas like Harrison.
With no set agenda, the meeting was designed to be an open-ended conversation about how to solve tomorrow’s problems today.
Among the key issues: infrastructure. Leaders say Hamilton County needs another treatment plant, like Moccasin Bend, to expand sewage capacity for future generations.
Roads are another major concern, many haven’t been funded since 2011, and safety remains a top issue.
Commissioners stress that road expansion and repairs are critical as traffic impact studies show growing congestion. Housing was also a hot topic.
Despite efforts to increase supply, costs continue to rise, making affordability a challenge. Leaders say more infrastructure investment is needed to support growth without straining resources.
County commissioners are listening to the public’s concerns as Plan Hamilton remains under debate.
We’ll keep you updated as discussions continue.
