Plane crash kills dirt track legend Scott Bloomquist

MOORESBURG, Tenn. (WDEF) —  Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer, Scott Bloomquist, was killed in a plane crash on the morning of August 16, 2024.

Reports state that the crash occurred around 7:15 a.m. near Bloomquist’s home, and that he was the only person on the plane at the time of the crash.

First responders and law enforcement were able to confirm that he was deceased on scene.

Bloomquist was very successful on the dirt track.

He first moved out to Tennessee in 1983, and began winning races within 100 miles of Mooresburg.

In 1988, Bloomquist won the Eldora Speedway’s World 100 in Ohio, and then went on to win it again in 1990.

He won over 600 races in his career.
