Pointe Centre VA clinic celebrates ribbon-cutting

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Tennessee Valley Healthcare System officials and area veterans cut the ribbon on Chattanooga’s newest VA clinic Monday afternoon.

The Pointe Centre VA medical clinic is located on Centre Pointe Drive in Chattanooga.

The clinic has been two years in the making.

A few years ago a survey determining mental health capacity versus need in our area found the whole Tennessee Valley area was very under-served, particularly Chattanooga.

Once the new clinic is up to full staff it will employ 50 mental health staff members.

Clinic Manager Christopher Marcus explained, “Mental health is such a key driver because it affects every aspect of your life. You know, if you have mental health problems then they’re usually associated with substance abuse, and depression, and it affects your primary care around your health and well-being.”

The Pointe Centre VA Clinic will also house an eye clinic with two optometrists on site.
