Police: 39 arrests during St. Patrick’s festival in Savannah
SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) – Police say 39 arrests were made during the St. Patrick’s annual festival in Savannah, the coastal city’s largest celebration of the year.
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman Eunicia Baker said in an email Sunday that police arrested 22 people on the final day of the festival Saturday. The three-day festival kicked off Thursday in the city’s downtown historic district.
Baker says most of the people arrested during the festival were charged with disorderly conduct, obstruction, affray, possession of marijuana, controlled substance and another for swimming in the Savannah River.
Of the 39 arrests, Baker says two were of juveniles, seven were felonies and 28 were misdemeanors.
