Police: Care giver charged with murder, hit 91-year-old man
MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) – A Georgia man has been arrested after police say he caused the death of a 91-year-old man in his care at a senior facility.
Local news outlets report Cobb County police say in a statement, officers responded Tuesday at a Marietta hospital after Adam Bennett arrived from Sunrise Assisted Living Center. Bennett had broken ribs, a lacerated kidney and a punctured lung. He died Friday from the injuries.
Police say hospital staff told officers Bennett had injuries that were not consistent with what they were told happened to him.
Police have charged 33-year-old Landon Terrel, a staff member at the care facility, with aggravated battery and felony murder in Bennett’s death. Police say Terrel admitted to hitting Bennett. Further information hasn’t been released.
It’s unclear if Terrel has an attorney.
