Police: Man killed over XBox, case sent to grand jury

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The homicide case involving the shooting death of a UTC student has been sent to the grand jury.

Police say D’Marcus White shot and killed Mohammad Sharifi over an X-Box.

White’s bond was risen to $500,000 for the homicide charge and $250,000 for the burglary charge.

We spoke with a friend of the victim about the tragedy as well as how they are supporting the victim’s fiance.

Alex Tyler, friend of the victim, says “it was completely senseless. I can’t think about anybody that would do that to another person.”

Mohammad and his fiance were supposed to get married over the weekend.

Instead, she spent the day in her wedding gown at his grave.

Tyler says “a lot of friends and family have been with her and being next to her is really… Holding her up and everybody is with her being strong and it’s really rough definitely for her and for us as well getting back into the pace is rough.”

They are planning to honor the him in May on the day he would have graduated from UTC.
