Police say Jackson County murder suspect arrested

JACKSON COUNTY, Ala. (WDEF) — The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office shared an update in a recent murder case.

On Friday, May 26, police responded to a shots fired call. They found 61-year-old Terry DeWayne Warren suffering from gunshot wounds in a home on County Road 17.

First responders ultimately pronounced Warren dead on scene.

During investigation, officers determined Dima Stevanovich Novikov to be a suspect. The sheriff’s office put out an arrest warrant and nationwide BOLO for the 29-year-old’s arrest.

Then on Wednesday, May 31, the Murray County Sheriff’s Office arrested Novikov.

Police found him in Chatsworth, Georgia.

They are charging him with murder and currently holding him in Murray County Jail. He will be extradited back to Alabama.

The Jackson County sheriff also said this investigation included “countless man-hours of effort” in two states, over five days.

Several agencies assisted in this arrest, as well as Jackson County citizens.
