Polytech Academy and Covenant Transport announced partnership

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — High school students in the Tennessee Valley get real world experience thanks to Covenant Transport.

On Friday,  Polytech Academy at Chatt State and Covenant Transport announced their partnership. The program started in January.

Students have the opportunity to work in Covenant Transport’s shop.

They work on tractor trailers and do electronic repairs.

“We are working with the interns at Polytech Academy to help give them an opportunity to see a real life experience job. We think their skills are excellent for what we do in the industry. So it has been an opportunity to bring them in,” said Dan Porterfield, with Covenant Transport.

“I like that it is small. And that the teachers are really close and they actually care about us,” said Grace Selle, a student at Polytech Academy.

Right now five students are participating in the program full-time.
