Popular Gatlinburg attraction goes green

Gatlinburg, TN (WDEF) – A popular tourist attraction in Gatlinburg gets a bit greener.  Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies recently added solar panels that started producing electricity in December of 2015.

Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies was the first business in Gatlinburg to install solar panels.  It recently added three new sections, including new panels on the main roof with two smaller sections above the ticket booth and the Gatlinburg Trolley Stop awning.

Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies claims to be the second most visited attraction in Tennessee, and when an attraction that big takes steps to reduce its carbon footprint…  That’s a definite Amy-O-Meter “10”!
