Potter sentenced for shooting Whitfield deputy

DALTON, Georgia (WDEF) – Dalton Potter, the 29 year old Texan who shot a Whitfield County Deputy during a traffic stop last September, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Potter pleaded guilty to aggravated assault of a peace officer, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and several other offenses.

The wounded deputy recovered.

Potter faces additional charges in Gordon County and in Texas.
