Power Outage Update

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Snow and ice did bring down some trees and power lines overnight.
But the main culprit was the wind that came before them.
Here is our update on the power situation on Monday afternoon.
As of 3PM, the EPB reports more than a thousand customers still without power.
The biggest clusters now are on Walden’s Ridge and Graysville.
Georgia Power still has a few hundred customers out in Dade County plus a handful of people south of Chatsworth.
Volunteer Electric Cooperative reports that most power is restored. But they still have more than 600 people out in the Polk County area.
The Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative to our west only has 21 people still without power in the Altamont area.
In the mountains to our east, the Blue Ridge Mountain Electric Membership Corporation have cut their outages by a third today.
That’s down from 6,200 to 2,480. The photo is from Blairsville.
They report getting a dusting of snow to several inches across their coverage area in Georgia and North Carolina.
