President Trump has classified documents case dismissed by judge
WASHINGTON (WDEF) – Former President Donald Trump won a major legal victory on Monday.
A federal judge has completely dismissed the charges against him in the government documents case.
This is the first of the criminal cases against him to be dismissed.
U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon ruled that she was granting the bid to dismiss because special counsel Jack Smith was unlawfully funded and appointed to prosecute the case.
President Trump faces 40 charges in the case over his handling of documents that were marked classified after he left office.
The ruling comes after the assassination attempt this weekend and as the Republican National Convention begins tonight in Milwaukee.
