Proposed Property Tax Increase For Teacher Pay Raise in Hamilton County

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) Hamilton County Schools Superintendent Rick Smith is proposing a 40-cent property tax increase.

He wants the increase to raise teacher salaries and provide foreign language classes in elementary school grades.

He says, "I think it’s time for us to talk about that as a community, and I intend to do that the next several weeks, get out in the community, talk to our parents and see what our parents say."
