QCells completes expansion of Dalton solar panel plant

DALTON, Ga. (WDEF) – QCells announced on Wednesday that they have completed their expansion at their Dalton plant.

The company calls it the largest solar panel plant in the Western Hemisphere.

The expansion will allow the plant to make 30,000 solar panels a day.

The plant has added another 510 workers. The plan is to have a total of 1,800 people working there by early next year.

QCells opened the plant in 2019, and then announced the expansion last January based on the new Inflation Reduction Act law.

They are also building a second plant in Cartersville, Georgia.

Senator Jon Osoff commented on the news by saying, “Our state is emerging as the advanced energy capital of the nation, thanks to Federal infrastructure and manufacturing policies that are benefiting Georgia more than any other state in the country.”
