R & R Farms in Lafayette Georgia
LAFAYETTE, Ga. (WDEF)-Today, we spoke with Bill and Lisa Rector, owners of R & R Farms, about what it takes to maintain healthy livestock and produce the freshest beef around.
With the holidays quickly approaching—and Thanksgiving just days away—community members are searching for the freshest produce and meat to serve on their family’s table.
We had the opportunity to speak with the Rectors, proud owners of R & R Farms, about how they ensure their livestock is happy and healthy.
Bill Rector shared, “I enjoy when people get cows from us. Whether they call or respond, telling us how much they enjoy it, it makes you feel good knowing you’re providing something good for their family.”
Their 260-acre farm, nestled in the deep countryside of Lafayette, Georgia, is often referred to as “heaven” by the couple.
R & R Farms prides itself on producing 100% natural and clean meat. They invite community members to visit the farm, see the livestock, and observe how their cows are cared for daily.
Lisa Rector, co-owner of R & R Farms, emphasized the hard work that goes into running their farm: “A lot of people don’t realize the effort it takes. You have to maintain your acreage, keep things mowed, seeded, and fertilized. And then there’s the cattle—there’s not a single day off. Bill has to work seven days a week. Vacations are rare; you have to hire someone to tend to things while you’re gone. Animals need food and water every single day.”
While touring the farm, Bill reflected on his early years, recalling the people who shaped him into the hard-working and honest farmer he is today.
“When I was in junior high,” Bill said with emotion, “I worked for R.J. and Colene Weathers. Working for them, I developed a love for cattle. I just fell in love with it, and I enjoy doing it. I enjoy when people get cows from us. Whether they call or respond, telling us how much they enjoy it, it makes you feel good knowing you’re giving someone something good for their family.”
Bill and Lisa also highlighted how simple and cost-effective it is to order meat from them, detailing a transparent and customer-friendly process.
“You can call and order a half or whole cow,” Bill explained. “We invite anyone to come to the farm, look at how our cows are raised, and even pick out their own cow. Each cow has a tag in its ear, and during the process, if you want to come check on your cow, you’re more than welcome. When the time comes for butchering, if you buy a whole cow, you’ll receive the ear tag with your meat, so you know you’re getting exactly what you paid for.”
