MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WDEF)- The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission has approved several price hikes to various TWRA licenses.

Boating fees will go up 22 percent while hunting and fishing licenses will both go up 28 percent.

Sportsman and lifetime licenses will go up 12 percent.

TWRA says more than 70 percent of their revenue comes from these licenses, and that since the last agency’s increase in 20-15, there has been over 30 percent inflation.

This they say put the agency at a deficit.

Some voiced concern on how it could make access to these activities harder for some.

A campground owner, Justin Jones, said, “There’s a perception that a lot of our customers have $100,000 pickup trucks, $100,000 RVs, $40,000 side by sides, but that’s a pretty small portion of our customer base. We have a very diverse customer base. Many of them are working class, blue collar people.”

These changes will go in effect on July 1, 2025.
