Rape Investigators Collect DNA Samples of Two Vols Players
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – According to search warrants, Knoxville police have obtained DNA samples from two suspended Tennessee football players as part of an investigation into a reported rape and sexual assault of two 19-year-old women.
The Tennessean reported Friday that, according to the warrants, both players complied with a judge’s order Tuesday that they submit to DNA swabs at the police department.
Knoxville police have said the two players – linebacker A.J. Johnson and cornerback Michael Williams – have been identified as subjects of the investigation.
Neither Williams nor Johnson has been charged or arrested.
One woman says Johnson and Williams raped her at a Knoxville apartment early Sunday. A second woman says she was sexually assaulted by Williams at the same location.
The university has suspended Johnson and Williams from all team-related activities.
