OOLTEWAH, Tenn. (WDEF)- Remote Control plane enthusiasts took to the skies Saturday.

The Wings and Ice Cream Event was held at Summit Field in Ooltewah.

Enthusiasts, including several Girl Scouts in a STEM program, came out to show off their R-C planes as they performed stunts and demonstrated their control over the planes.

Most of the planes are self-built.

The event organizer, Rico Hatcher, said, “You got to have the love for it. A lot of people here are passionate about it, they’re pilots themselves, airline pilots, private pilots. You’ve got to have a passion, they come out here all the time.”

The event was hosted by the Chattanooga Radio Control Club in conjunction with Vonzara, Inc.

They will be holding their fall version of this event, Wing-a-palooza, on September 2nd.
