Red Bank Elementary School plan falls through

RED BANK, Tenn. (WDEF) – A plan to build an elementary school behind Red Bank Middle and High Schools has fallen through.

Hamilton County Superintendent Dr. Justin Robertson sent commissioners a message Tuesday saying that building the new school would be impossible.

His reasoning is that the geothermal system that is used to heat up Red Bank Middle School is located over the practice fields the elementary school would be built upon.

Plan A For Red Bank

School board commissioner for Red Bank Ben Connor says this discovery makes a new elementary school in Red Bank more unlikely.

This follows the Hamilton County School Board’s disagreement upon the Red Bank school plans.

Connor said, “I would gladly be open to another property that someone would be willing to land swap or donate that is 15 acres in Red Bank but at this time I don’t see that happening.”

Connor says unless another spot opens up in Red Bank, he believes the majority of the board would be willing to approve the DuPont Elementary mega site school.

The school board is expected to vote on a new recommendation plan by the end of the month.
