Red Bank HS students protest inappropriate conduct on campus

RED BANK, Tenn. (WDEF) — On Friday morning, Red Bank High School students protested outside the school about inappropriate conduct that happened at the school earlier this week.

Viewers reached out to News 12 regarding the protest on Friday morning.

Both students and parents were protesting, and many students told News 12 they did not feel safe at their school.

Hamilton County Schools spokesperson Steve Doremus also sent a statement on the incident.

He says a small group of students were protesting the incident that happened on Tuesday, December 12.

A Red Bank High School student reported to school administrators that he was engaged by three students who then touched him inappropriately over his clothes.

School administrators disciplined the students and contacted their school resource deputy and Red Bank Police. The school also filed a report with the Department of Children’s Services.

“Earlier today, a small group of students at Red Bank High School staged a protest outside the school in relation to an incident that happened on earlier this week. The students were voicing concerns about the situation.

On Tuesday, a RBHS student reported he was engaged by other students and touched inappropriately over his clothes. The student immediately reported the situation, and multiple steps were taken by school administrators.

The SRD on duty was contacted, as was the Red Bank Police Department. A police investigation was started, and the school filed a report with the Department of Children’s Services. A Title IX investigation is also underway. The school is providing supports to the student who filed the complaint.

As a result of initial investigations, three students received school discipline appropriate for the reported offense and are not at school.”
