Red Bank Quarterback Calvin Jackson Trying to Imitate Former AU Quarterback Nick Marshall

Red Bank, TN-(WDEF) Red Bank quarterback Calvin Jackson put on a show last week in the Lions opening round playoff victory.
Jackson dazzled the crowd with 200-yards rushing on just nine carries.
The kid seems to be coming into his own at quarterback, and he’s only a sophomore.
Calvin Jackson played defense and receiver a year ago, but head coach Chad Grabowski felt Jackson had the talent to be a good quarterback.
Said Grabowski:”That’s kind of why we put him at quarterback because he can make plays when something breaks down. He even makes plays that are designed that way, he makes the play, so it’s just kind of worked out well for us.”
Offensive coordinator Drew Akins says Jackson’s running ability reminded him of a former S-E-C quarterback.
Said Akins:”Watched a lot of Auburn film to be honest. Watched Nick Marshall play. Could see Calvin look like Nick Marshall at a lower level. We’ve mimicked a lot of what Auburn does, so he has seen it. He’s an Auburn fan, so when I said hey man, we want to be Auburn on this level, he got excited.”
Said Jackson:”Yeah I picked up some things on Nick Marshall, RGIII from the Baylor film. It’s just natural.”
Akins likes Jackson’s poise at the position.
Said Akins:”It’s hard to tell when Calvin gets excited. He’s very even keeled. I tell you what. That’s the most impressive thing about him is that you can’t tell. He doesn’t get rattled. He doesn’t get overly excited. He just kind of stays within himself.”
Jackson’s true talent was on display on one play last week, where he broke multiple tackles on his way to a 60-yard touchdown.
Reporter:”You’re the coach standing over there watching that. What are you thinking?
Said Grabowski:”I’m glad he’s on my side.” (laughter)
Said Jackson:”When I first did it, I didn’t even think that I did that. I was just like that’s amazing.”
Said Akins:”I looked at him and said how did you do that? And he said coach I just made the first guy miss and I saw open field. I was like well, I coached you. Tell people I coached you to do it because it sounds a lot better that way.”
