Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene responds to Mayorkas’ impeachment fail
WASHINGTON (WDEF) — Republicans attempted to impeach Mayorkas for his handling of the southern border. But three republicans sided with the democrats, making the impeachment fail.
Local representative Majorie Taylor Greene shared her thoughts on the republicans who voted no.
Earlier this week, 214 people voted to impeach the Homeland Security Secretary and 216 voted against it.
“On the Mayorkas impeachment, I am for transparency. So, I don’t care how votes end up. Of course, I wanted to see it pass. We knew it was going to be close going in, so I wasn’t really surprised,” said Rep. Greene.
Greene is glad that the American people can clearly see how each representative voted.
“I think it’s good for the American people to see exactly where everyone is and put them on record. I started that in my freshman year of congress. Roll calling votes,” Rep. Greene said. “I think the American people need to see how we vote.”
Greene had this to say about Rep. Ken Buck:
“Now we have three republican members, one that no one cares about, because he is retiring… And apparently trying to get a contract with people that republicans don’t watch.”
And she said this about Reps. Tom McClintock and Mike Gallagher:
“You know for the other two, Gallagher and McClintock, I’m sure they are hearing from their constituents and maybe there are finding out how important it is to impeach Mayorkas. Even though they seem to have their own personal issues with it.”
But she says this impeachment process could continue.
“We can bring the articles of impeachment back to the floor, maybe as early as next week,” Greene explained.
This attempt at impeachment was due to Mayorkas’ handling of the southern border and immigration.
