Republicans reacting to Robinson scandal
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- The fallout from a CNN report about the Republican nominee for Governor in North Carolina is prompting reaction from other Republicans around the country.
That report claimed to uncover posts that current Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson had made on an adult website.
Those comments according to CNN included Robinson proclaiming himself as a quote, “Black Nazi”, among other controversial statements.
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, the current chair of the Republican Governor’s Association who has previously voiced his support for Robinson in the race, says the organization is pulling its support.
“The Republican Governor’s Association is not supporting Governor Robinson moving forward…RGA decided not to participate in an event, and that decision was prior to the CNN story breaking, but the RGA has decided not to participate in that event, which I was scheduled to be a part of,” said Governor Lee.
Robinson says he is staying in the race as the first absentee ballots have been mailed out in North Carolina.
