Resident posts his own surveillance images of home burglar

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – (Note: we are not showing tight shots of the suspects face because he has not been charged yet & police have not released the video to identify the suspect. If they do release it, we will have further video to post)

Residents in the Tyner and East Brainerd area have taken to social media to identify a man whom they believe is responsible for a string of burglaries.

It all started when a victim posted still shots from a surveillance video onto Facebook.

The man in this surveillance video is first scene driving past a home. Then after he realizes the owner’s truck is no longer in the driveway and that the garage door is open, he turns around.

The owner of the home says he had just left to go run an errand and had come home to find that a generator in his garage had been stolen. He reviewed the surveillance video and this is what he saw.

“I have no idea who he is. I got him pulling in the driveway. He gets out and looks straight up at the camera and goes into the garage and comes out with my generator. He’s struggling to get it because I did not put wheels on it.”

Still shots from the video were posted on social media, and before long, people started sharing the photo’s and someone identified the man.

It was through Facebook where some people said the man seen in this video is the same man believed to be behind burglaries in other Tyner homes as well as homes off of Graysville Road in East Brainerd.

Brad Crouch says he reported the crime caught on surveillance video to Chattanooga police.
