Rick Davis Faces Mounting Charges

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) —  A familiar face in Chattanooga’s jewelry scene is at the center of a legal firestorm. Rick Davis, longtime owner of Rick Davis Gold & Diamonds on Brainerd Road, is facing mounting legal troubles.

A Hamilton County grand jury indicted Davis on six counts of theft, with allegations that he obtained property valued between $10,000 and $60,000 without the owner’s consent.

Davis has also been charged with passing worthless checks and was most recently arrested after allegedly threatening a local attorney and his son, who represents a client suing Davis over a $100,000 ring.

That ring was reportedly sold to Davis for just $150.

Civil suits are also piling up. A court recently ordered Davis’s business inventory seized and auctioned to repay victims. Multiple former customers say they lost thousands.

Despite the criminal charges, Davis is out on bond. The cases remain pending in General Sessions Court, with a status hearing scheduled for July 24th.

We will continue to follow the case as it unfolds.
