Riverbend Festival starts on Friday
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) We’re only a few hours away from one of the biggest events of the year.
The Riverbend Festival kicks off on Friday.
This is the 35th year for the annual concert series.
For the second year in a row, there will be headliners at 6:30 and at 9:30 at night on the Coca-Cola stage.
Of course, a whole host of local and regional bands will fill the other stages during the 8 day event.
The Festival has gotten a reputation of showcasing up and coming country stars.
This year, Thomas Rhett takes the main stage on opening night.
Entertainment Director Joe “Dixie” Fuller says the Festival has done a good job of spotting new talent, like Thomas Rhett.
“He’s the hottest thing coming out of Nashville right now. So we’ve been really fortunate to catch that. We did it with Keith Urban. We did it down here with Sam Hunt. We did it with Florida Georgia Line, and I think this is going to be our good pick this year.”
Every night before the Festival starts, there will be a car-ee-oak-ee event.
That’s a sing along for the whole crowd sponsored by Chevy.
Organizers say it will be a familiar song like “We Will Rock You,” or “Happy Birthday.”
