Robertshaw sending Chattanooga production to Mexican border, costing local 134 jobs

ITASCA, Illinois (WDEF) – The Robertshaw company announces it will shut down operations at its Chattanooga facility by early 2018.

The company makes gas delivery products and systems for appliance and HVAC equipment manufacturers (parts, switches and timers).

But they have been re-organizing since buying the BSI company last summer.

As a result, the company is moving kit assembly from Chattanooga to a plant in Brownsville, Texas (on the Mexican border).

And the light manufacturing will move to its facilities in Mexico.

134 employees will lose their jobs.

In a release, the company says “Robertshaw is working closely with all impacted employees throughout the transition process. Severance packages, relocation opportunities and outplacement services will be offered as appropriate.”
