Robot Calf Protests Leather Industry
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Downtown Chattanooga recently saw a futuristic protest take to the streets, as a robotic calf made an unexpected appearance to raise awareness about animal cruelty and environmental impact.
Charli XC Cow, a walking, talking, AI-powered robot calf created by PETA, took center stage outside Warehouse Row, asking shoppers a provocative question: “Are you wearing my mother?”
The robot was part of PETA’s latest campaign to draw attention to the harsh realities of the leather industry.
Through cutting-edge technology, Charli highlighted the gruesome conditions cows endure in countries like Thailand, Cambodia, and Brazil, where they’re subjected to violent killings and abuse.
The robot calf also pointed out the leather industry’s significant role in climate change, water pollution, and deforestation.
PETA hopes the spectacle will inspire people to think twice about their fashion choices and opt for sustainable, animal-friendly materials.
Charli XC Cow’s visit left a memorable mark on the city, reminding shoppers that even their fashion choices can impact both animals and the planet.
