Ron DeSantis asked if his car left early from the crash scene in Chattanooga

DECORAH, Iowa (WDEF) – Republican Presidential candidate Ron DeSantis was asked about his crash in Chattanooga today on the campaign trail.

The wreck happened July 25th as he and his caravan got into a fender bender on I 75 while attending a fundraiser.

No one was seriously hurt.

But he was asked about it today in Iowa after Chattanooga Police video showed his vehicle left the scene.

Gov. DeSantis responded “You should talk to the folks that were involved. Basically I was like 3 or 4 cars in. They told the police they’ll give any statements…we were kind of on the road exposed so I think they just wanted to get everyone off.”

Police say the motorcade had to brake suddenly when they came up on a wreck scene, possibly caused by an animal running into traffic.

So each of the vehicles rear-ended the ones in front.

The Chattanooga event was not a public appearance. And the candidate went on to the fundraiser.

But since the wreck, he has also faced questions about why he was using Florida state vehicles for his campaign.
