Sabrena Smedley challenging County Mayor election results

She cites an organized effort by Democrats to sway the vote

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WDEF) – The Republican Primary for Hamilton County Mayor may not be over, after all.

Even though candidates Sabrena Smedley and Matt Hullender conceded the results on election night, now Smedley is challenging them.

She has filed a challenge in Nashville, alleging an organized effort by Democrats to sway the election.

Smedley told News 12 Now tonight “I am contesting the election results due to evidence of an organized effort by Democrats to influence the outcome of the Republican primary by massive cross-over voting.”

The Primary is open, so Democrats can request a Republican ballot and vote in the race.

The results of the race were very close.

14,425  Weston Wamp

14,104  Sabrena Smedley

12,171  Matt Hullander

If the results stand, Wamp now faces Democrat Matt Adams in the fall election.
