Vic Accurso, Senior has lived a life of service.
ASLINGER “Every community that he has moved to for the last 54 years he’s served in their fire service.”
Accurso spent most of his life as a firefighter, serving in New York, Florida, and Tennessee.
Now he’s being recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his time giving back to several communities.
CARLSON “I’m glad they’re honoring Vic today. He’s well deserving.”
Accurso worked for the Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department from 2005 to 2007.
Since then, he’s been with Sale Creek.
ASLINGER : “At this time due to his failing health, he is unable to respond. Now if he were able to, he would still be there with us.”
Chief Aslinger says Accurso’s cancer is a direct result from responding to the September 11th terrorist attack.
WOODY “Vic immediately packed his gear and equipment, went back to his alma mater, his original fire department, and served alongside his brothers there at the Trade Center side, so that’s very important to acknowledge that.”
Accurso’s fellow firefighters say they admire both his knowledge and passion as a first responder.
CARLSON “He didn’t have to do it. He didn’t have to get into it at all. It’s a brotherhood. A lot of people don’t understand that.”
And that’s why we are proud to name Vic Accurso as our First Responder of the Month.
JAMES WETTERMARK– “At Wettermark Keith we are so proud of this month’s First Responder’s winner. But we’re also proud of the hundreds of other First Responders who are out there working every day and every night to protect us and our families.”
