Salvation Army begins accepting donations for holidays

News 12 This Morning: Major Douglas McClure with the Salvation Army joins News 12’s Amelia Greer in preparation of the busy holiday season fast approaching.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – It might still be a little warm this fall, but things are warming up at the Salvation Army this coming holiday season.

Salvation Army of Chattanooga is accepting in-person registration applications for their annual Angel Tree from September 23 through 27. Anyone interested can go to the three Salvation Army locations:

Chattanooga Citadel Corps – 1019 N Moore Rd, Chattanooga

Chattanooga East Lake Corps – 2140 E 28th St, Chattanooga

Cleveland Corps – 437 Inman St W, Cleveland

The Angel Tree program accepts donations for Christmas gifts to ensure families can have a memorable holiday. Families can submit their child’s wish list where people can adopt a tag (child) from the tree.

This holiday season is shorter due to Thanksgiving falling later in the month, so they are urging people to donate and get involved as soon as possible.

As for Thanksgiving, it’s time to clean out your pantries and consider donating to the Salvation Army’s Operation Thanksgiving. They are accepting food and monetary donations for this season.

This year, the Cleveland Corps will be hosting a Thanksgiving Lunch. In Chattanooga, food boxes will be given to seniors as well as delivery service of Thanksgiving meals to shut-ins.
