Salvation Army hosts ” Stuff the Bus” back to school initiative

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn (WDEF) – As the next school year quickly approaches, The Salvation Army and Walmart are teaming up to provide local children with new school supplies through the “Stuff the Bus” initiative.

At eight local Walmart Supercenters throughout Chattanooga, school supply lists and Salvation Army collection bins are present so shoppers may purchase requested items and leave them to be delivered to a child in need.

Collection bins will be available starting August 6th through August 8th.

The Walmart Supercenters will collect donations of notebook paper, pencils, pens, backpacks, folders, binders

“We know that Covid-19 caused a lot of unexpected financial strain on families this year and buying new school supplies isn’t always a priority when there are bills to pay, groceries to buy, and rent to pay. This is our way to help relieve that financial stress and also making sure those children are prepared to make the most of their education,” says Jake Cash, Salvation Army Representative.

Items will be picked up by The Salvation Army and distributed to families in need before the first day of school.
