Salvation Army needs more red kettle bell ringers

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Salvation Army in Chattanooga is in need of more red kettle bell ringers.

Organizers say Bell Ringers collect funds that will provide food, clothing and gifts for families during the holiday season.

In Chattanooga, people have been ringing bells for 125 years. Groups and individuals are stationed at different locations in the area and will collect funds and support those programs.
Children under 18 can participate, but they put have an adult with them at all times.

Major Mark Smith, area commander of The Salvation Army of Greater Chattanooga, says they are thankful for everything bell ringers do.

“If you are a people watcher it is a really great thing. If you are friendly, it is a wonderful thing. You are out there in the public and people appreciate what you are doing,” Major Smith said.
