Salvation Army of Chattanooga Area Commanders head to Birmingham
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — After three years of working and living in Chattanooga, Salvation Army Area Commanders Majors Douglas and Storm McClure are heading to Birmingham.
The McClures move in June of 2026.
The Salvation Army says officers are moved around to different Area Commands or Corps every three to five years, which is done to meet organizational and community needs, and due to The Salvation Army being a quasi-military organization.
“We have really loved our time in Chattanooga. It is such a wonderful city and we will miss it,” said Major Douglas McClure.
The McClures are being proceeded by Captains Johnny and Monica Horton. This will be their second time in Chattanooga, but their first time as Area Commanders.
