Scenic City Summer Softball Showcase

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – This weekend, the Scenic City is stepping up to the plate in a big way. The Scenic City Summer Fastpitch Softball Tournament is back and bigger than ever, bringing with it a wave of energy, competition, and economic activity.

Now recognized as the largest fastpitch softball tournament east of the Rockies, the showcase is drawing over 470 out-of-town teams to Chattanooga.

Tournament organizers estimate the event will generate nearly $13 million in local economic impact through hotel stays, dining, transportation, and other spending.

Quote from tournament organizer Jill Higdon “We make sure appropriate teams are playing each other and then we communicate with the college coach’s kind of excessively to a point. We make sure that they know where the teams are playing and the teams do a good job of making sure that the college coaches know where they are”

Running from Thursday through Sunday, the tournament offers each team a chance to vie for a championship title. But it’s not just about the wins. With more than 500 college coaches attending, the event doubles as a major recruiting showcase for high school athletes, especially those looking to play at the next level.

Teams from 35 states will play across nearly two dozen fields throughout the region, highlighting Chattanooga’s growing reputation as a go-to destination for high-level youth sports.

As the first pitch is thrown, one thing is clear: the Scenic City is ready for the spotlight — and ready to deliver a grand slam weekend for athletes, coaches, and the local community alike.
