How did a school bus driver get busted for DUI with kids on board?
MURPHY, North Carolina (WDEF) – A bus driver is suspended and a school system is reviewing their policies after the arrest of Harold Herbst.
State troopers took him into custody after his bus, with seven students on board, got stuck on a dirt embankment at an intersection.
No one was hurt.
Troopers say Herbst had slow reactions and failed a field sobriety test.
He has been suspended from driving for the schools.
Cherokee County school leaders tell WSOC that they are looking at their entire system for monitoring bus drivers.
That includes possible random drug testing.
