Search for missing hiker in Pocket Wilderness in Rhea County

DAYTON, Tennessee (WDEF) – There’s a major search going on in the Pocket Wilderness of Rhea county.

According to Investigator Rocky Potter of the Rhea county sheriff’s office, there are 6 teams looking for Curtis Dustin Williams of North Carolina, and his dog.

They were hiking in the Laurel Snow State Natural Area northwest of Dayton.

Relatives say they haven’t heard from him since about 5 pm on Monday.

The Rhea county EMA is heading up the search, which now includes drones, and a flyover by state helicopters.

K-9’s have also been brought in.
