Second Lawsuit to be Filed Against City of East Ridge, Police Officers

Robin Flores Prepares a Second Suit, Same Police Officer Involved in Both

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) — Local Attorney Robin Flores is preparing a new lawsuit against the City of East Ridge and some of its police officers.

Last week, News 12 reported that Flores was suing over two officers, identified in the lawsuit as Teddy Dyer and Candice Miller, forcibly arresting a 70 year old man during a verbal encounter.

Now, Flores is launching another lawsuit over Dyer’s behavior, this time on behalf of a woman Flores says had her head slammed against a car window after refusing a search of her vehicle.

Flores provided News 12 body-cam footage of the incident.

“What you’re seeing are actions of four police officers from East Ridge. One of them is a Sergeant, who should know better. They’re present; they escalate the situation,” said Flores.

Flores says what the body-cam footage shows is not proper police behavior.

“And I base that off of my experience in South Carolina as a cop for ten years in. You know, they didn’t teach us that in South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. They didn’t teach us that in North Charleston PD. They didn’t teach us that in the City of Charleston PD,” Flores added.

The first lawsuit against Dyer and Miller is seeking $500,000 in damages. It is not yet clear how much the second suit will seek.
