Secretary Hargett promotes Voter Registration Day in Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Secretary of State Tre Hargett was in Chattanooga Tuesday morning to promote “Your Vote Matters” on national Voter Registration Day.

Secretary Hargett spoke on why it’s so important for those in our community to vote.

Local officials were in attendance at the Chamber of Commerce to help support voter registration.

They say every vote counts in this upcoming election.

“We just say that you’re never better off leaving the power of your gun in the hands of others who do go vote. We are going to have people who get elected that are making decisions that can affect your future. I must say you have got to be a persistent and regular voter every time those polls open, you need to make your voice heard,” said Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett.

The State of Tennessee is listed in the bottom 25 percent when it comes to voters’ participation and registration.

Voter registration deadline in Tennessee is Monday, February 5, 2024.
