Sen. Ossoff blasts Postmaster General over slow mail in Georgia
WASHINGTON (WDEF) – Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff is blasting the postmaster general after missing a deadline today.
In a congressional hearing, Ossoff demanded that Louis DeJoy provide remedies for slow mail in Georgia.
Delays are piling up at processing centers in both Georgia and Virginia.
When DeJoy failed to send any documents to the Senator by today, Ossoff issued a statement.
He says that in addition to being incompetent at a delivering mail on time, the Postmaster General doesn’t care about Georgians in distress.
DeJoy did announce earlier this week that he is pausing the postal reorganization plan until next year.
Here is the senator’s statement:
“Postmaster General DeJoy’s refusal to cooperate with basic Senate oversight is baffling and disturbing. It suggests that in addition to being incompetent at delivering the mail on time, he doesn’t care about the Georgians in distress as a result of his incompetence. Prescriptions aren’t arriving. Bills aren’t getting paid. Ballots aren’t getting counted. I will continue fighting for the Georgians suffering from the Postmaster General’s failure. Further updates to come.”
