DADE COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) — A local state senator has been censured by his state party.

Republican State Senator Colton Moore was suspended by the Georgia Senate Republican state caucus on Thursday.

Senate Republicans said that frequent rule violations led to their decision.

They said it was not because of Senator Moore’s position of calling for a special session to impeach Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis over the indictment of former President Donald Trump.

Senator Moore responded in a statement saying in part that the Senate Republicans are acting like children and are not upholding Republican values.

This does not impact his ability to serve as a state senator, just his ability to caucus with other Republicans.
